Five alternative defenders to Matthew Connolly who Hull City could sign

Matthew Connolly’s proposed move from Cardiff City to Hull City has hit a snag, according to Hull Live. Here are five alternative options the Tigers could opt for instead-

Kevin Long, Burnley- He has made six appearances for the Clarets in the Premier League this season and is hardly a first-team regular. He would provide the Tigers with more back-up and options at the back and would be a decent replacement for Tommy Elphick.

Jon Gorenc-Stankovic, Huddersfield Town- The 22-year-old has struggled to nail down a regular spot in the Terriers first-team. He could leave them this month on loan for more game time and is an option for the Tigers.

Danny Fox, Nottingham Forest- The experienced defender, who can play as either a centre-back or left-back, is out of contract at Forest at the end of the season so could leave them for a small fee this month. He has been linked with a move to Wigan Athletic. Nigel Adkins knows Fox from his time at Southampton, could he try and reunite with him?

Dan Burn, Brighton and Hove Albion- The 26-year-old signed for Brighton in the summer from Wigan but was loaned out to the Latics until January as part of the deal. He has now joined up with the top flight side. Hull could try and persuade the Seagulls to loan him out for the rest of the season to help their Play-Off push.

Richard Stearman, Sheffield United- Adkins could raid his former club for the experienced defender. Stearman, who has also previously played for Wolves and Fulham, is not a regular starter for the Blades.
