Frank Lampard understood to be “willing” to let £8 million defensive starlet leave Derby County

It is being reported by Sky Sports that Derby County manager Frank Lampard would be willing to let defensive starlet Jayden Bogle leave Pride Park this January.

Reports emerged yesterday stating that Premier League side Burnley are lining up an £8 million move for Derby County right-back Jayden Bogle. Sky Sports have followed that up today (Tuesday 15th), saying that Rams boss Frank Lampard “would be willing” to let the youngster leave this January if a fee is agreed.

It comes as quite the surprise to hear the rumours that Lampard would be willing to let Bogle leave, given that he has played a significant role throughout the first half of the season.

Lampard addressed the rumours, failing to rule out a possible move away for Bogle.

“From the minute I have been here Jayden Bogle has been fantastic,” the former Chelsea man said.

“I heard he was a talent, and he has shown that he can perform at a top level in the Championship and in our Carabao Cup run at Manchester United and at Chelsea.

“So, of course, people will look at players who are performing that well.”

The right-back started his youth career with League Two side Swindon Town, before joining the Derby academy in 2016. He spent two years in the Rams’ academy before joining up with the first team upon the arrival of Lampard.

Bogle hadn’t made a single senior appearance for Derby County prior to the arrival of manager Frank Lampard in the summer. Since then, the defender has become a mainstay in The Rams starting 11.

Throughout the first half of the season, he has played 26 games in all competitions, with 22 of those coming in the Championship. The 18-year-old has kept former Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom out of the first-team. The majority of Wisdom’s nine appearances this season have come in the absence of Bogle, but he has recently filled in for injured left-back Craig Forsyth as well.
